Camp A: Funky Fusions, ages 6-7

Date: July 8 – July 12

Time: 8:30AM – 3:30PM

Get funky this summer at MCASD!

We will make masks inspired by Gerald Clarke, scarves inspired by Yinka Shonibare, and mixed media art jewelry inspired by artists in our featured exhibition, Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today.

  • Learn how contemporary artists combine materials and ideas to make exciting new art.
  • Play with different styles as you go on an adventure through the Museum.
  • Hands will get messy while mixing and matching mediums and learning about the elements of art.

Camp B: Art in Motion, ages 8-9

Date: July 15 – July 19

Time: 8:30AM – 3:30PM

Come join the whirlwind of art in motion at MCASD!

We will explore the exciting works of Jeannette Ehlers and Daniel Lind Ramos from MCASD’s exhibition, Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today, as well as the sculptural work of Niki de Saint Phalle and Tom Driscoll from our permanent collection.

  • Explore movement-based art through flip books, claymation, optical toy thaumatropes and more.
  • Make new friends as you collaborate on a hand-crank TV show and become an art star!

Camp C: Neighbors: You, Me, and All In-Between, ages 8-9

Date: July 29 – August 2

Time: 8:30AM – 3:30PM

Join us in exploring how art brings us together and in proximity to one another.

We will explore the works of Niki de Saint Phalle, Ana Mendieta, and many others as we strengthen our bonds within our neighborhoods!

  • This exciting week will be filled with community-building and learning how art helps us connect.
  • Create portraits of your new friends, tell stories of your community through your art, design flyers and posters, and work together on chalk murals.
